Workshop on Effective Communication Strategies

Communication has become more important in the workplace more than ever. One of MIT surveys showed that Scientists and Engineers spend the majority (70%) of their time communicating. If professionals in technical fields spend that much time in communication, you can imagine how much more time other professionals are spending on communication. The question is how much effective are these communications?

The Effective Communication Strategies workshop will help participants understand the different methods of communication and how to make the most of each of them. These strategies will provide a great benefit for any organization and its employees. The workshop on Effective Communication Strategies is a very dynamic and interactive workshop. It offers multiple communication approaches your people may use in the workplace right away. The workshop is filled with great insights, latest communication models, tools, and processes that equip your employees, supervisors, and managers to take their communication ability to the next level, communicate like a pro. We have up-to-date and well-designed Workshop Manuals, Facilitator’s Guide, Icebreakers, Activities, PowerPoint Slides, and offer Certificate of Completion to all attendees upon completing the program successfully. However, if it’s necessary, we’ll be happy to work with you and customize our materials to make them relevant to your situation, meet the needs of your people, and align with your organization’s corporate culture.

This workshop is participants-centered. The facilitator doesn’t lecture. The workshop employs latest adult learning principles. It begins by asking participants to share their expectations from the workshop. These expectations will be checked at the end of the workshop to see if participants’ expectations are met. Once the facilitator provides background information and a story or two for each section, he then asks a series of questions that allow participants to reflect, dig deep, and through the process learn from within as they respond to the probing questions. Participants will also engage in one-on-one, small, and large group discussions to learn from other fellow participants. There will also be demonstrations by the facilitator and opportunities for some participants to stand in front of the class to speak and get feedback. There will be quizzes, and assignments to evaluate learning. At the end of the workshop, each participant will be given an opportunity to recognize one thing they learned, and one immediate action they take because they attended this workshop.

  • Large group discussion led by the facilitator concerning the critical roles communication plays
  • Small group discussion to identify the communication challenges in the workplace
  • Individual exercise, then small and large group discussions about effective and ineffective communication types
  • Small group, and then large group discussion about communication barriers


  • Discussion on para-verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Explanation about the STAR Model by the facilitator plus individual exercises to practice the model, followed by feedback from the facilitator
  • Pairing exercise using Johari Window to improve communication by increasing self-awareness
  • Explanation about the three levels of listening plus role modeling to reinforce the theoretical concepts concerning listening
  • Briefing plus some relevant stories to empower participants to develop Cross cultural communication competency
