Workshop on Effective Presentation Skills

Synopsis
Many studies have found that public speaking is the number one fear amongst most people, outranking flying, snakes, insects, and even death. According to a survey by the Sunday Times of London, 41% of people list public speaking as their biggest fear. Forget small spaces, darkness, and spiders, standing up in front of a crowd and talking is far more terrifying for most people. Ironically, it is also one of the soft skills that can make or break a person’s career, relationships, and business.

While public speaking can be a nerve-wracking experience, it can be extremely beneficial to boost our confidence and in turn succeed in our career, social engagements, and businesses. Public speaking is a life skill, which we all need to develop. Improving our presentation skills empowers us tremendously when we speak in front of groups, conduct meetings, speak at a conference, lecture for the first time, or address the media. It enables us to deliver our message with confidence. It allows us to capture the attention of our audience, increase our credibility, influence our audience and win them over our side, and create impact.

Effective Presentation Skills workshop will give participants effective presentation tips and approaches that will make speaking in public less terrifying and more enjoyable. Your participants will be provided a strong set of skills that will complement their current presentation skill set. This workshop includes topics that participants can look forward to including but not limited to creating a compelling speech, using various types of visual aids, and engaging the audience. Therefore, this one-day workshop will help your people organize their speeches well, deliver an impactful presentation from the stage, listen actively, eliminate credibility robbers, and communicate their message effectively.

Most importantly, the number of participants should not be more than 10 at a time for the two-day workshop.

PROPOSED APPROACH
This is a fast-paced and exciting workshop. We understand that most of the participants have been standing in front of people and many of them have been speaking well. This workshop aims at taking the public speaking abilities of participants to the next level. The workshop employs latest adult learning principles. It begins by asking participants to share their expectations from the workshop. These expectations will be checked at the end of the workshop to see if participants’ expectations are met. Participants will be given ample opportunities to:

  • Discuss in pairs, small, and large groups
  • Watch sample video clips
  • Role-plays
  • Engage during the question and answer session
  • Stand and speak to practice and get feedback

At the end of the workshop, each participant will be given an opportunity to recognize one thing they learned, and one immediate action they’d take because they attended this workshop.
